General

  • How to display the SC ribbons?
    • Type "ribbon" to display the ribbons
    • If you don't see the ribbons that you need you have to change the workspace (click on the gear button on the lower right of the screen and select from there what you need).

By modifying the database you can correct some mistakes you made during the project

  • Correct settings for text style, height, etc. (they disappear after exploding nests?! DXF?!)

Hull

Stringer shells
If there are problems in the orientation of the stringers, you can check the stringer shell's health with SCSTRSHELLHEALTH command
Problems can be generated by the orientation of the original surface from rhino(check to see if the orientation is the same for the entire surface)
  • minimum import tolerance is 0.1mm, how to increase?
    • 0.1 is the minimum value for SC if you import from a rhino 4 file. If you import from rhino 3 it cam be smaller.
  • trim lines in hull gives big differences because of NURBS lines are transformed into polylines
    • Trim the surfaces with Rhino imported curves (exploded), not with nurbs.

Approval and Export

Sometimes it takes a huge amout of time and memory to export some curved plates.

Lambertus Oosterveen from Royal Huisman has the same problem with SC2008. support says that the problem is generated by the too dense surfaces or trim curves.

The same surfaces used in SC2005 give much smaller times for export. so the problem is generated by their export methods...

Structure

  • layer management (important for bound approval)
    • The AutoCad setting LAYEREVALCTL must be 0. Disables the evaluation and notification of new layers.
    • For more details search Acad Help for "Use New Layer Notification"
  • Unreconciled layers cannot be plotted in AutoCad2006.
    • Workaround: open and save the drawing in Rhino.
  • Export - exports all layers, how to export only the solid layers?

09010 project Issues

  • Does not snipe in HULL. I can’t align the expansions because I can’t select an intersection or an end point.
    • it is a local problem on ws-04
  • In planar group U1-TANKBOT we can’t add some marking lines to the plate. It changes their color when you try to add them but they do not appear on the plate.
  • It does not bind the approval. We had to bind it on small pieces and use extract components for several planar groups and for the curved group we had to use extract production info for each plate.
  • In NEST for the 4mm plate doesn’t update the table with the used material weight.
  • In planar group U1-MAINDECK we can’t make the marking lines to appear dashed. No matter on what side of the plate we put the marking it still appears continuous.
    • next time be careful with purging drawings, important information might be lost, like scondashed, the dashd linetipe for shipconstructor
