The file revision is the last position of the file name. Preliminary files are with numbers, final files with letters. As soon as a file has been send it must be made 'read only'.

Status[edit]

  • WIP - Work in progress - file is being worked on, has not been sent to client
  • X (revision letter) - file has been sent to client, not allowed to modify, file properties to be 'read only'
  • X-WIP - work in progress for new revision

Modifications[edit]

To modify an already sent file, open the file and rename it with the next logic character and add WIP (Work in Progress). When the modifications have been made, the WIP is removed from the name and the file can be send after which it must be made 'read only' again.

Examples[edit]

  • 12018-60-100-0 bilge system - final file, first revision (properties 'read only')
  • 12018-60-100-A WIP bilge system - work in progress of an update of revision 0 (rev.0 has been moved to the 'history' folder)
  • 12018-60-100-A WIP bilge system 12-01-2013 - work in progress of an update of revions 0 sent to the client on 12-01-2013 (save in 'Sent' folder)

Possible improvements[edit]

  • indicate status of drawing:
    • add P for Preliminary to revision letter, add PRELIMINARY text above titleblock?
  • add 'By' to revision block?
  • add 'Checked' (Ck'd) to revision block?
